A body found over the weekend near Eklutna Lake Road was identified as a 27-year-old woman reported missing a day earlier, Anchorage police said Monday.
On Friday, the day Jerilyn Bessie Nicholson was reported missing, police said she was last seen in Eagle River on April 24 and was last heard from in text messages sent April 25.
She was found at the base of a cliff in the 35000 block of Eklutna Lake Road on Saturday afternoon, according to police. Police said at the time that observations made at the scene “warranted a closer look at the circumstances surrounding the death.”
The state medical examiner will determine cause of death, police said in an alert Monday evening. Next of kin have been notified.
Police asked anyone with information about the investigation, including video, to call dispatch at 311.
