West Anchorage shooting leaves man wounded

A shooting in West Anchorage on Thursday afternoon sent a man to the hospital, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2600 block of McRae Road at 4:41 p.m. and found a male victim at the scene, Anchorage police said in an alert. His condition remains unknown, and there have been no arrests so far, according to police.

“The details of the shooting to include the motive, circumstances, and number of people involved are still under investigation,” police said in the alert.

McRae Road remains closed between Turnagain Boulevard and Spenard Road, and police asked the public to avoid the area.

Police also asked anyone with information about the shooting, including surveillance footage, to call dispatch at 311 (option 1).
