A man was killed Sunday when another driver lost control of a pickup truck, crossed the median of the Glenn Highway near Birchwood and crashed into his SUV, Anchorage police said.
Police said the driver of a blue Dodge Ram pickup lost control of the truck while heading south and crossed the highway median over to the northbound lanes and collided with an Acura sport utility vehicle going north, police said. The man driving the Acura was declared dead at the scene, police said. The man driving the Dodge was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police on Monday identified the man killed as Evan Chyun, 39. The truck driver was not immediately identified.
The incident occurred between the north and south Birchwood exits around 1:30 p.m. The collision closed the outbound lanes of the highway for hours and slowed incoming traffic. Police reported all lanes reopened around 10 p.m.
