A crash on the Glenn Highway in northeast Anchorage on Thursday evening left a woman dead and sent another woman and a child to the hospital with injuries, police said.
Police officers and Anchorage Fire Department medics responded to a report of a vehicle crash with injuries just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Anchorage police said in an online alert. According to a preliminary investigation, a Chevrolet Camaro heading northbound on the Glenn between Boniface Parkway and Turpin Street collided with a Dodge Durango traveling in the same direction, police said.
The woman who was driving the Camaro was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman driving the Durango as well as a juvenile passenger were taken to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening, according to police.
On Friday, police identified the driver who died as Amy Fredeen, 48.
No charges have been filed in the crash, police said.
