Hundreds of women took part in the 29th annual Alaska Ski For Women in the sunshine at Kincaid Park on Sunday. The fundraising event helps support the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage and Alaska nonprofits working to end domestic violence.

There were two timed events, freestyle and classic, followed by a costume parade judged in three categories: Terrific Team (3+people), Dynamic Duo (2 people) and Incredible Individual (1 person).

“I think the costume contest is the most competitive part and we had a great turnout this year,” said Alaska Ski for Women director Molly Mylius. “This has been a tough snow year for Anchorage. The Nordic Skiing Association has snowmaking equipment here at Kincaid that allows us to still ski. I think a lot of folks didn’t pull their skis out this year just because conditions haven’t been great in other parts of town.”
