Interior storm kills power, downs trees

FAIRBANKS -- Residents of Healy say they were without power for six hours Sunday as heavy winds hit the Parks Highway community north of Denali National Park.

Vojin Savic tells the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner that the power went out at about 10 a.m. and came back at 4 p.m.

Wind also affected other areas of Interior Alaska.

The state Department of Transportation says multiple trees were knocked down along the Alaska Highway between Tok and Delta Junction. Crews were working to clear them but travelers were warned that there could be delays Monday.

The wind also affected radio transmitters.

Gretchen Gordon of KUAC-FM in Fairbanks says the station remained off the air at 7 a.m. Monday but could be streamed online.
