Injury crash temporarily closes Boniface Parkway in Anchorage

Anchorage police say a vehicle crash Thursday afternoon sent a bicyclist to the hospital and temporarily closed all lanes of Boniface Parkway between Northern Lights Boulevard and DeBarr Road.

Police responded to the multiple-vehicle wreck at 12:47 p.m. at Boniface and Perry Drive, Anchorage Police Department spokesperson Renee Oistad said in a release.

"A red Ford Taurus failed to yield while turning from Perry onto Boniface. As a result, a gray Subaru traveling northbound on Boniface hit the Taurus, and then bounced into a white SUV traveling southbound on Boniface," Oistad said.

The white SUV was pushed into a bicyclist who was traveling south on Boniface, she said. The cyclist wasn't wearing a helmet and was taken to the hospital for a serious but not life-threatening head injury.

The southbound lanes of Boniface at Perry Drive reopened about 30 minutes after the crash, police said. The northbound lanes reopened around 2 p.m.

APD asked drivers to "please slow down" on the icy roads, and to move over for emergency vehicles.
