Troopers, medics respond to report of carriage crash in Butte

Alaska State Troopers responded midafternoon Wednesday to a report of two people ejected from a horse-drawn carriage near the reindeer farm in Butte.

The accident occurred on Bodenburg Loop Road when a horse pulling the carriage unexpectedly bucked, according to troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters.

Initial reports indicated that two people were hurt. A helicopter from LifeMed Alaska landed near the Reindeer Farm, reported as the closest location to the accident, and lifted off again just after 3 p.m. The carriage is not affiliated with the farm, an employee said.
