Alaska Airlines flight grounded in Kotzebue after jet clips wing of parked cargo plane

An Alaska Airlines flight taxiing to the runway from the ramp in Kotzebue clipped the wing of a parked Alaska Air cargo freighter on Tuesday, the airline said Wednesday.

The incident left 36 passengers stranded in Kotzebue overnight into Wednesday.

The left winglet of Flight 155 clipped the right winglet of the parked plane, according to a statement from Alaska Airlines spokesman Tim Thompson.

There were no injuries, and passengers were switched to a flight that left for Anchorage on Wednesday morning. Passengers from out of town spent Tuesday night in a hotel.

Both planes were damaged and taken out of service for repairs in Anchorage, Thompson said.
