Plane crash on Knik River sandbar leaves 3 people with minor injuries

Three people sustained minor injuries when a plane crashed on a sandbar in the Knik River near Palmer Sunday afternoon, Alaska State Troopers said.

The crash was reported around 1 p.m., troopers wrote in an online statement. Troopers did not say what may have caused the crash, but said the plane “crash landed on a sandbar and the plane flipped onto the roof.”

The three people onboard reported minor injuries, with one having a head injury, troopers said. The Rescue Coordination Center in Anchorage will respond to the crash, troopers said.
