Anchorage police looking for payday loan business robbery suspect

Anchorage police say the suspect of an armed robbery at a Midtown payday loan business on Monday is still at large.

Officers continue to investigate the robbery, which happened around 4:15 p.m. at MoneyWorks located on the 500 block of East Northern Lights Boulevard, according to an Anchorage Police Department release.

The suspect entered the business brandishing a handgun and demanding money, police said.

"After receiving the money, the suspect fled the store on foot," the release says. APD did not say how much money had been stolen.

There were no physical injuries reported, police said.

APD describes the suspect as a thin, light-skinned black man about 5 feet 8 inches tall to 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing a black fleece jacket, a black backpack and gray jeans.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate him.

Police are urging anyone with information about the robbery or suspect to call them at 907-786-8900, or to submit a tip anonymously through Anchorage Crime Stoppers.
