Volunteer volleyball coach charged with sexually abusing two minors, Anchorage police say

Anchorage police allege a Boys and Girls Club volunteer volleyball coach sexually abused two minors.

Bernard Droege, 56, coached at an Anchorage Boys and Girls Club and performed maintenance at Holy Rosary Academy, a local Catholic school, police said. Neither of his victims is tied to these locations, they said.

Droege was arrested and jailed Wednesday on more than two dozen counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, exploitation of a minor and child pornography possession, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

In June, one of the child's parents told the state Office of Children's Services about the alleged abuse. OCS contacted police, and after several months of investigation officers made the arrest, according to APD.

"These charges are in regards to two victims," the department said in a release.

APD does not believe Droege has more alleged victims. But police are asking anyone with information suggesting otherwise to call a detective at 907-786-8552.
