APD: 2 men treated for wounds after Monday shootings

Police are investigating shootings in which two men were wounded and taken to different hospitals in less than half an hour Monday evening, asking for information from the public on both incidents.

Police spokeswoman Renee Oistad said in a statement that police were informed of the first hospital dropoff at 10:26 p.m. and the second at 10:52 p.m. The first victim remained in serious condition Tuesday afternoon, and the second suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

"Police are still investigating as to whether or not the two victims were wounded in the same incident and where the shooting(s) occurred," Oistad wrote. "Police have been in communication with both victims and their families."

Oistad wasn't immediately able to discuss further details of the cases, including whether police believe there is any link between Monday's shootings and a double shooting on the 100 block of Muldoon Street shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday that left one person dead and a second wounded.

"The investigation is in its very early stages," Oistad wrote in an email.

Anyone with information on Monday's shootings is asked to contact either police at 907-786-8900 or Anchorage Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP or its website.
