Nikiski man arrested after pointing shotgun at snowplowing crew, troopers

Alaska State Troopers say a Nikiski man was arrested Saturday after he pointed a shotgun at a snowplowing crew and troopers who arrived to investigate.

Troopers said in an online dispatch Saturday that they were called to a house on Ramona Road in Nikiski after someone called to report that a "highly intoxicated" Michael A. Wicker, 56, pointed a gun at two people in a plow truck.

When troopers arrived, Wicker "pointed a shotgun at troopers and then relocated to a separate room," the dispatch said.

Troopers then tried calling Wicker on the phone, but he wouldn't come to the door. Kenai police officers arrived to help, the dispatch said.

Troopers eventually entered the home, where Wicker was "arrested without incident," the dispatch said. It wasn't clear how long the standoff continued.

Wicker was held without bail at Wildwood Correctional Center on assault, weapons misconduct, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct charges.
