FBI: Girl found safe after Anchorage police ask for public's help locating vehicle

Law enforcement in Anchorage sent out several alerts Friday, asking the public for help locating two vehicles and a 7-year-old girl, but it turns out the girl was with her mother.

Anchorage police initially asked people to help locate a gold 2009 Toyota RAV stolen from the area of 33rd Avenue and Old Seward Highway. The girl was inside the vehicle, police said.

The FBI said in a separate statement that officers were also looking for a blue Dodge truck.

"Girl could possibly be in that vehicle as well," said FBI spokeswoman Staci Feger-Pellessier.

But Feger-Pellessier reported shortly after the FBI statement went out that the girl had been found safe and unharmed. She said any additional information on the incident would come from the Anchorage Police Department.

Officials with the police department could not be reached for clarification.
