Palmer child-porn suspect arrested in Florida

A Mat-Su Borough School District employee sought on Palmer child-pornography charges has been arrested in Florida, where he awaits extradition back to Alaska.

Treyvon Johnson, 30, was arrested Monday in Lauderhill, Florida, on an extraditable $50,000 arrest warrant issued by the Palmer district attorney's office, Alaska State Troopers said.

A report from the Broward County Sheriff's Office listed Johnson's arrest, at about 12:30 p.m. Alaska time, as occurring at an address on Environ Boulevard. He was held at the local jail on the Palmer warrant.

Johnson was indicted in Alaska last week on 10 counts each of possessing and distributing child pornography, plus one count of tampering with physical evidence. Troopers began investigating the case in late January.

MSBSD spokesperson Catherine Esary said in an email Tuesday Johnson had worked for the district for about 18 months, most recently as a custodian at Colony High School, but wasn't currently on active working status.

"The district is cooperating fully with the Alaska State Troopers and the investigation," Esary wrote. "If members of the community have any information that is helpful to the troopers, they should contact (AST)."

Plans to extradite Johnson were in the works Monday afternoon, troopers said.
