Fairbanks police were investigating the death of a man found at an address off College Road late Thursday as a homicide.
Officers initially responding to 1215 Bunnell St. at about 11:30 p.m. for a report of shots fired found 47-year-old victim Carlos Alberto Zuniga, according to a statement from police spokeswoman Yumi McCulloch.
"When they arrived they tried to do some first aid, some lifesaving, but it was not successful," McCulloch said.
Medics subsequently pronounced Zuniga dead. His next of kin have been notified.
Investigators weren't saying Friday morning whether Zuniga had been shot, McCulloch said. No suspects in his death had been identified as of Thursday night.
"Detectives are just trying to figure out what happened," McCulloch said.
