Driver in fatal Fairbanks crash arrested for manslaughter, DUI

A single-vehicle Fairbanks crash that killed a man Wednesday night has left the woman Alaska State Troopers say was at the wheel facing manslaughter and DUI charges.

Troopers arrested 40-year-old Fairbanks resident Shyla Turenne in the case, according to an online report posted Thursday. Troopers were first informed of the rollover crash on Chena Hot Springs Road just after 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

"One of the passengers, 45-year-old Fairbanks resident Hudson Mitchell, was determined to be deceased," troopers wrote. "Another passenger was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with minor injuries along with Shyla."

Hudson's next of kin have been notified, troopers said.
