Man wanted in drug-related Anchorage shooting, police say

A man who recently came to Alaska from California is being sought by Anchorage police, who say he shot and wounded a man Tuesday evening in Mountain View.

Myles Boomer Gilmer, 23, is wanted on a warrant for first-degree assault, police spokeswoman Renee Oistad said Wednesday.

Callers on the 3800 block of Peterkin Avenue reported shortly after 8:15 p.m. that "a man was outside yelling for help and was bleeding." Officers found the victim, who was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg.

"Initial indications are that the shooting occurred during an argument over drugs," Oistad wrote. "After speaking with several witnesses, and processing the scene, it was determined that (Gilmer) was responsible for the shooting."

Anyone with information on Gilmer's whereabouts or the shooting is asked to call police at 907-786-8900. Anchorage Crime Stoppers can also take tips on the case, at either 907-561-STOP or its website.
