Man used fake gun to rob Midtown gas station, Anchorage police say

A man used a fake gun to rob a Midtown gas station early Friday morning, according to Anchorage police.

Christopher Gunderson, 34, was arrested on charges of robbery, assault and theft in connection with the incident. He's accused of entering the Tesoro gas station at Northern Lights Boulevard and A Street, pointing what appeared to be a handgun at the clerk and demanding money and cigarettes.

Gunderson walked away from the store and was found after a police dog search of the area, according to a Friday police statement. Police say he was in possession of the money and cigarettes taken from the Tesoro.

The K-9 unit also found a discarded gun that turned out to be fake, police said.
