APD: Man dead after gunfire in East Anchorage

One man was found dead by officers late Saturday after a caller reported two men with guns on Howard Avenue in East Anchorage, police said.

The dead man, whom police did not identify, was found with "at least one gunshot wound" at Sixth Avenue and Oklahoma Street, near Creekside Park, about two blocks from the scene of the original report.

The original call on the incident was received by police at 10:41 p.m.

"One person from the scene was taken into police custody for questioning," police said.

Police had made no arrests in the shooting as of Sunday evening, according to spokeswoman Nora Morse. The victim's name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
