Woman wounded in Dec. 30 shooting has died, Anchorage police say

A woman who was shot early Dec. 30 in East Anchorage has died, police said Monday, and the shooting is being investigated as a homicide.

Officers were called at 2:59 a.m. Dec. 30 to a report of shots fired near the 100 block of Oklahoma Street in Muldoon, police said at the time. They found multiple shell casings.

About 15 minutes later, a woman identified as Juanita Lolesio arrived at a hospital with what police described as life-threatening gunshot wounds.

"Multiple witnesses were with the female and were questioned by APD," police said at the time.

Police said Monday "there is no suspect information to release" and are seeking public tips.

They released no further information about the victim or the circumstances of the shooting.

The case appears to be a record 36th homicide for Anchorage in 2017.
