Man dies in Anchorage hit-and-run, police say

A man was struck and killed by one or two vehicles late Sunday in the Mountain View neighborhood, Anchorage police say.

Police are looking for witnesses to the incident, reported around 10:30 p.m. when someone said they saw a man down at Commercial and Mountain View drives, according to an Anchorage Police Department statement.

A preliminary investigation found the man was hit by one or possibly two vehicles, police spokesman MJ Thim said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

It's unclear how long he was in the street before he was seen, and whether he had been walking in the area before being struck.

A gold Chrysler Town and Country van was seen in the area, and people inside may have witnessed the collision, Thim said. Police are also looking for any surveillance video that might show what happened before the man was struck.
