Police seek companion of pedestrian killed in Anchorage hit-and-run

Police on Thursday identified the man who died in a hit-and-run Sunday in Anchorage's Mountain View neighborhood as 65-year-old Alfred Komok.

On Sunday evening, police received a report of a man lying in the street at Commercial and Mountain View drives. A preliminary investigation found that "one or two vehicles possibly struck the victim," who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Surveillance footage shows Komok was walking with another person at the time of the crash, police said Thursday. The other person was unharmed and walked away from the scene, according to police, who want to talk to that witness.

At the time of the collision, a van was seen in the area.

"Witnesses described it as a gold Chrysler Town and Country, however those details have not been confirmed," police said in Thursday's statement. "Investigators would like to speak to the driver, and any passengers in that vehicle, as they may have seen the crash."

Police are asking people with information to call dispatch at 907-786-8900 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers 907-561-STOP.
