Anchorage police arrest suspect in homicide investigation

Samson Costigan, suspected in the killing of a 28-year-old Anchorage man, was arrested Friday evening, police said.

A warrant was issued for Costigan's arrest in mid-March. The Anchorage Police Department said Costigan, 39, was a suspect in the fatal shooting of Jacob Stough on March 16.

Stough was found dead in a car that was blocking traffic in the 8900 block of Dewberry Street, police said. He had been shot in the upper body.

Police believe that the killing was a targeted, drug-related crime.

On March 19, police released a statement saying Costigan had a warrant for his arrest, and he was believed to be armed and dangerous.

Then Friday afternoon, Anchorage police warned the public that Costigan was thought to be traveling between Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, "hiding from authorities."

A tip from an "alert citizen" led to Costigan's arrest, police said.

The tipster said Costigan was in the Mountain View area, police spokesman MJ Thim said. He was found at a gas station at the intersection of Boniface Parkway and DeBarr Road.
