Southwest Alaska man charged with sex abuse and incest

Alaska State Troopers have arrested a man from the Mountain Village in Southwest Alaska on charges of sexual abuse of a minor, incest and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

According to an online trooper dispatch, Charles Andrews, 51, was arrested Tuesday in Bethel on a $25,000 warrant.

Andrews was taken to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center and charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, one count of incest, one count of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, and one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor in a dry village.

The first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and first-degree sexual assault charges are unclassified felonies, the most serious level of charge under Alaska law.

According to online court records, the crimes occurred May 3. Troopers said an investigation began June 24.

Mountain Village is a village of about 800 people located on the Yukon River.
