Two masked men barged into a home Sunday morning in North Pole and fired on the occupants, killing one man, the Alaska State Troopers said.

Fairbanks troopers received a 911 call at 8:11 a.m. about a shooting on Gianna's Court in North Pole.

When troopers arrived they found two men inside with gunshot wounds.

"The two men, who resided at the residence, were confronted by two masked males who barged in and ultimately fired upon them," troopers wrote.

The masked men fled after the shooting.

One of the wounded men died at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. His name has not been released.

The other, Wayne Daniel, 50, of North Pole, was being treated for his injuries.

Authorities have released no details about what led up to the shooting or why the men may have been targeted. The investigation is ongoing, troopers said.
