Anchorage man charged with child sex abuse; police ask possible victims to come forward

An Anchorage man who police say sexually abused four children has been arrested, and officers believe he may have more victims.

Derek Warwick, 30, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and three counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, police said in a written statement.

The investigation began July 17, "when a young girl revealed she had been abused by him," police said. "Further investigation revealed a total of four victims, ranging in age from two to seven years old had allegedly been abused by Warwick."

Detectives believe there may be other victims. Police asked victims to report "any inappropriate activity with Warwick" to detective Shawn Davies at 907-729-7607.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported, based on information from Anchorage police that Derek Warwick was charged with sexual assault of a minor. He faces charges of sexual abuse of a minor.
