Troopers looking for hunter who shot and left caribou to waste near Denali Highway

Alaska Wildlife Troopers are looking for a hunter or hunters who shot a caribou and left it to waste near the Denali Highway earlier this week.

Someone reported a caribou carcass left to waste near mile 12 of the Butte Creek Trail, at mile 80 of the Denali Highway, to Cantwell wildlife troopers on Saturday, the agency said in an online dispatch.

"The cow appeared to have been shot and wasted on or around 8/23/2018," troopers wrote.

People with information can anonymously call the Alaska Wildlife Safeguard Hotline at 1-800-478-3377.
