Palmer man charged in shooting death of woman

Palmer police have arrested a 22-year-old man in the shooting death of a young woman.

Police say Crissilin C. O. Cruz, 23, of Palmer died early Saturday morning.

Authorities arrested Brian T. Burton, of Palmer, in connection with
the shooting.

The Palmer Police Department said in a statement Saturday they responded to a report of an accidental shooting at 2:43 a.m., at 855 W. Fern Ave. in Palmer.

Emergency Medical Services provided emergency care to Cruz, but she died at the scene.

Burton has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and two counts of weapons misconduct.

He was booked into Mat Su Pre-Trial facility where he was held without bail.

The agency said the investigation is continuing.
