Man killed in Turnagain neighborhood shooting

UPDATE 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26:

Anchorage police on Monday identified the shooting victim as Brian F. Wetmore, 42.

The investigation was continuing and no further details were being released, police said.

Police are investigating the death of a man who was shot in the Turnagain neighborhood Saturday afternoon, the Anchorage Police Department said in an alert.

Officers responded just before 1 p.m. to a home on the 3000 block of Wendy’s Way, just north of Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, after receiving a call that a man there had been shot. The man was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later, police said.

The police department’s Crime Scene Team responded to the scene, police said.

Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances that caused the shooting, but they believe it was an isolated incident, police said.
