Shootings in South Anchorage leave two men wounded

A shooting in a South Anchorage apartment early Wednesday left two men wounded, police said.

Patrol officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim in an apartment complex in the 5300 block of Mockingbird Drive just before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to an Anchorage Police Department release. The man was shot in the lower body and suffered injuries described as not life-threatening.

Not long after officers got to the apartment, dispatchers received notification of another man with a gunshot wound to his lower body who arrived at a hospital, police said. That wound was also not life-threatening.

“It was determined that both adult males were in the same apartment when the shooting occurred,” police said in the release. “One stayed at the scene, one went to the hospital.”

An investigation continues. No one has been arrested in relation to the shootings. Police, who released no further details, said they believe this was an isolated incident.
