Police seek man who robbed Anchorage coffee hut at gunpoint

Police in Anchorage are searching for an armed man they say robbed a coffee hut near Midtown Anchorage on Thursday afternoon.

Witnesses told police a tanned white man walked up to the window at Perkup Espresso on West Potter Drive, off of C Street, and climbed inside the the window holding a handgun, according to a public alert. He took cash and then left on foot without harming the two employees inside, police said.

Police set up a search perimeter after they arrived on the scene around 4:39 p.m. and attempted to track the man using a K9. After an hour and a half with the suspect still not located, police broke down that search perimeter.

The suspect is described as being about 5 feet 8 inches tall and between 160 and 180 pounds, police said. He may also have facial hair.
