A woman in Fairbanks died Friday afternoon after an apparent assault, Alaska State Troopers say.
Troopers responding to an assault report just after 3 p.m. found the woman on Carnegie Street with “life-threatening” injuries, according to a report posted online. The woman died on the way to the hospital, troopers said.
Troopers arrested the male suspect, who they say had fled the area, about an hour and a half after the assault was first reported. His name has not yet been released because he has not been charged with a crime.
The name of the victim will be released after her family is notified.
