Soldotna man drove excavator into his own house with family inside, troopers say

A Soldotna man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly drove a piece of heavy machinery into his own house, with his family inside.

Alaska State Troopers responded to a “disturbance” at 3:48 a.m. Saturday and found Matthew Leadens, 40, of Soldotna had driven an excavator into his home, according to a statement by the Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers did not say whether anyone was injured nor describe the level of damage the house sustained.

Leadens was taken to Wildwood Pre-Trial Facility, where he is charged with domestic violence assault in the third degree, assault in the third degree, a DUI and criminal mischief.
