Police arrest 27-year-old man in shooting at downtown Anchorage bar

Anchorage police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly shooting an employee at a downtown Anchorage bar during a fight.

Police say Reynaldo E. Armstead was at the Gaslight Bar on Fourth Avenue in downtown Anchorage early Saturday morning when a scuffle broke out.

“One of the participants pulled out a handgun and began waving it around,” Anchorage police said in a statement.

An employee tried to break up the fight and was shot by Armstead, according to police.

He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Armstead was charged with assault, weapons misconduct and reckless endangerment, police said Sunday. He also had a felony warrant for failing to stop at the direction of an officer.
