A 27-year-old man suspected in a Thanksgiving Day shooting in East Anchorage that left one woman dead was taken into custody Thursday night, according to police.
Officers responding to the 200 block of McCarrey Street, north of Russian Jack Springs Park, around 3:14 p.m. Thursday found a woman with a life-threatening gunshot wound to her upper body, according to APD. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she later died, police said.
Police identified Moses T. Crowe as a suspect in the shooting and conducted a K9 search of the area Thursday evening. Crowe was taken into custody by officers working the perimeter of the search, according to police, and he will be questioned at police headquarters before being taken to the Anchorage jail.
The case is being investigated as a homicide, and police said the shooting is “believed to be an isolated targeted event.” The woman will be identified once next of kin have been notified.
