3 wounded, 3 in custody after gunfire near Wasilla

Three people were wounded late Thursday, one suffering life-threatening injuries, in gunfire south of Wasilla, troopers said.

All three of the wounded were transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital.

Witness reports received around 9:30 p.m. said three men walking away from the scene near Hollywood and Sylvan roads appeared to be carrying weapons, according to an online alert from troopers.

Troopers on their way to the scene made contact with Peter Williams, 32, Darin Smith, 26, and Andre Franklin, 41, along an ATV trail.

Troopers arrested all three and said they face charges of attempted murder, assault, kidnapping and robbery.

The investigation was continuing, said troopers, who didn’t immediately make any further details available.
