Woman wounded in East Anchorage shooting

A woman was wounded by gunfire Wednesday night in East Anchorage, police wrote in an online alert.

The woman called 911 around 7:40 p.m. after she was shot in a car near Parsons Avenue and North Pine Street, police said.

Investigators believe shots were fired from one vehicle toward another, the alert said.

A woman inside the targeted vehicle was shot in the upper body, police said. She was brought to a hospital in stable condition.

Police said the suspects fled after the shooting. There was no suspect description available Tuesday morning.

No other information was immediately available, a spokeswoman for the police department said. Anyone with information, including surveillance footage, is asked to call dispatch at 311.
