Police release name of gas station homicide victim as search for suspect continues

Anchorage police identified the man killed by gunfire outside a Mountain View gas station Monday morning as 42-year-old Jerry R. Sales, according to an updated online alert.

Officers were called to the Holiday station on Mountain View Drive around 10:15 a.m. on a report of shots fired, police wrote. Sales had life-threatening gunshot injuries and died at the scene despite attempts to save him, the alert said.

Sgt. Frank Stanfield said at the scene that police believed Sales was involved in “an altercation where shots were fired” outside the gas station.

Police said Monday evening that 43-year-old Tierre Eady is the suspect in the shooting. No additional details were provided about how police believe Eady is involved.

Police describe Eady as 6 feet tall, 210 pounds with short, cropped black hair and brown eyes.

Police urged anyone with information about the investigation or Eady’s whereabouts to call Dispatch at 311, or Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.

There have been 34 homicide victims so far in 2019, not including three officer-involved shootings. Anchorage set a homicide record in 2017 with 37 victims, not including two-officer involved shootings.
