A 22-year-old man was arrested for his role in an East Anchorage car crash last month that left a woman dead, police said Friday.

Joey Thao, 22, faces charges including manslaughter, third-degree assault and operating under the influence, the Anchorage Police Department said in an alert.

According to a preliminary investigation, a red Honda sedan driven by Thao was heading west on East Seventh Avenue when it collided with a dump truck heading north on Bragaw Street early on the morning of Dec. 28.

Cindy Vang, 22, was a passenger in the Honda and was declared dead at the scene, police said. Thao and a boy who was also in the Honda at the time of the crash were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the dump truck wasn’t hurt in the collision.
