A man was shot early Monday after five men forced their way into his home, Anchorage police said.
Officers were called to the 3200 block of Cassius Court just before 1 a.m., according to an online alert. One of the men who broke into the home fired several shots inside and hit the homeowner once in the upper body, police wrote.
A woman and child were also in the home but were not injured.
The men stole several items from the house before fleeing on foot, police said.
The homeowner was brought to the hospital but police said his condition is unknown. Police used a K9 to search for the suspects but they had not been found.
Police did not immediately say whether the victim and assailants were acquainted. The investigation is ongoing and police said a motive was not immediately clear.
Police are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage of the area to call Dispatch at 311.
