A father and son were arrested after troopers said they fatally shot a teenager north of Fairbanks early Thursday.
Troopers and medical responders were called to the corner of the Old Steese Highway and Goldstream Road north of Fairbanks at 3:50 a.m. for a reported shooting, troopers wrote in an online report.
At the scene, troopers found 18-year-old Brett Allen of Fairbanks with multiple gunshot wounds. He was brought to the hospital, where troopers said he was pronounced dead.
A later investigation showed that a group of people had been in a verbal altercation with 43-year-old Anthony Peterson before the situation turned violent, troopers wrote. Both Anthony Peterson and his 18-year-old son, Aaron Peterson, fired multiple shots at Allen, troopers said.
The father and son were arrested on first-degree murder charges and are scheduled to appear in court Friday. They were being held at the Fairbanks Correctional Center on Thursday.
