A man was seriously injured Thursday in an early morning shooting in Northeast Anchorage, police said.
Officers were called to Valley Street and East 11th Court in the Muldoon neighborhood just before 5 a.m. on reports of shots fired, police wrote in an online statement. A man was found outside with serious injuries to his upper body and brought to a hospital.
Several people were detained for questioning, police said, but no charges had been filed by 8:30 a.m.
Police said it was not immediately clear how many shooters were involved or what the motive was. The investigation is ongoing and police said it is believed to be an isolated incident.
Evidence markers dotted the residential streets Thursday morning and police cruisers blocked off a section of roadway.
Police asked that anyone with information about the shooting or surveillance footage call dispatch at 311.
