A woman found dead early Tuesday at the Nunaka Valley baseball fields in East Anchorage suffered upper-body injuries, police say.

Officers were called to the fields near the end of Craig Drive at about 4:15 a.m. on a report of a deceased woman, according to an online alert. Early Tuesday, police had blocked off at least one of the fields, which are adjacent to Nunaka Valley Elementary School.

An Anchorage Police Department crime-scene team will investigate the death as a homicide.
