Woman wounded in East Anchorage shooting

A woman was shot and wounded Thursday morning in East Anchorage, police said.

Officers were called to the 100 block of North Hoyt Street around 10:30 a.m. and found a woman with a gunshot wound to her lower body, police wrote in a statement. She was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

The shooting was believed to have taken place outside, and police are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to call dispatch at 311, the statement said.

The investigation is ongoing and police said there was no suspect information to immediately release.

“The motive for the shooting, and any relationship between the parties involved, is under investigation,” police wrote.
