Original story:

Anchorage police responding to a report of shots fired this week in Midtown found a woman dead and a man injured.

No arrests have been made so far in the homicide investigation, Anchorage police said in an alert Friday.

Police said officers responded at 5:10 a.m. Friday to a residential neighborhood at the 3100 block of Cheechako Street, southeast of the intersection of Arctic and Benson boulevards.

When they arrived, police found two victims: a woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and a man with injuries described as not life-threatening, according to the Anchorage Police Department. The man was taken to the hospital.

Cheechako Street was temporarily closed between West 31st and West 32nd avenues as a crime scene team processed the scene, police said.
