Anchorage police seek Girdwood man wanted for sexual abuse of a minor in 2016

Anchorage police are searching for a Girdwood man wanted on a charge of sexually abusing a minor in 2016.

David K. Swendiman, 54, was “active in the Girdwood community, which oftentimes led to him leading youth group activities,” police wrote in a statement. Authorities believe there may be additional victims.

In November, police began investigating Swendiman for a sexual assault involving a minor during 2016, the statement said. Swendiman knew the victim.

A warrant was issued on April 15 for multiple felony counts of first- and second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, but police said Monday that Swendiman has not been arrested and his location is unknown.

Authorities asked anyone with information about his location to call dispatch at 311 and press 1, or to call 907-786-8900 and press 0. Police described Swendiman as 5-foot-8, 160 pounds with graying brown hair and blue eyes.

Police asked anyone who may have been victimized by Swendiman to contact Detective Christopher Thomas at christopher.thomas@anchorageak.gov or 907-786-2628.
