Anchorage police are investigating as a homicide the death of a man hospitalized with severe injuries after being located Sunday in the Sand Lake neighborhood.
Officers were called to the intersection of West 88th Avenue and Molanary Drive at 5:50 p.m., where police said a man was walking outside with “visible injuries to the upper body.” He was brought to the hospital for life-threatening wounds.
Police in an update Tuesday said the man later died but provided no additional information.
A spokeswoman for the Anchorage Police Department would not answer questions about what kind of injuries the man suffered or say what day he died. She also would not provide details about the circumstances surrounding the crime, including if police believed it was an isolated event.
No charges were filed in the case by Tuesday.
The man was not identified pending notification of next of kin. His death marks the 17th homicide this year in Anchorage.
