2 dead, including child, and 2 injured in pickup rollover near Fairbanks

A woman and child died and two others were seriously injured in a rollover Thursday afternoon on the Steese Highway in Fox, Alaska State Troopers said.

Ruth Crow, a 72-year-old Circle resident, was driving west when she lost control of her 2008 Dodge 1500 pickup, according to a troopers dispatch. The truck veered off the highway and rolled at least once.

Crow died from her injuries, as did 10-year-old Ashlyn M. Crow, of Fairbanks, troopers said. Two other people in the truck were seriously injured: 13-year-old Elora T.J. Crow and 30-year-old Kimberly A. Nathaniel, both of Fairbanks.

Everyone in the truck was wearing a seat belt, troopers said. The road in that area is a fairly straight stretch with a posted speed of 55 mph.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
